X-Men’s Jean Grey and Marvel’s New Phoenix Take Flight In Stunning Art

Marvel’s new and old Phoenix host, Echo and Jean Grey get the much-deserved spotlight in a series of stunning comic book covers that will appear on the A.X.E.: Judgment Day crossover event. Marvel Comics revealed several new covers from artists Lucas Werneck and Ashley Witter, that shine the spotlight on some of the women taking part in the Avengers, Eternals, and X-Men conflict.

In July, Marvel Comics will have one of its most Earth-shattering events, as the Avengers, Eternals, and X-Men will come into conflict during Judgment Day. Kieron Gillen and Valerio Schiti are tackling the massive comic book crossover, which Marvel has hyped to have significant implications on the universe’s future. The Eternals are coming for the X-Men after learning about their connection to the Deviants, forcing the mutants to fight back against the ancient heroes. Meanwhile, it seems the Avengers are being forced into joining the battle, as their Celestial headquarters appears to be playing a pivotal role in the event.

Marvel Comics revealed several new variant covers from Lucas Werneck and Ashley Witter, for the upcoming A.X.E.: Judgment Day event, which features a handful of heroes taking the spotlight. Included among them is Echo, the current wielder of the powerful Phoenix Force, who will fight alongside the Avengers in the crossover. The Echo-starring cover will appear on A.X.E.: Eve of Judgment Day #1.

Echo will be joined by the former Phoenix Force-wielder, as Jean Grey of the X-Men will also star on a variant cover for the crossover event. Grey will appear on the A.X.E.: Judgment Day #3. Check out the dazzling Marvel Comics cover below.


Werneck and Witter also combined for two more revealed variant covers. The first features the Eternals’ Thena, as she strikes a powerful pose while using her massive weapon. Next, Destiny of the X-Men is unmasked in a gorgeous cover showing the fan-favorite hero in action. Both covers capture the respective heroes beautifully and illustrate their powerful natures.
