KGF 2 star Yash turns down multi-crore paan masala ad deal weeks after Akshay Kumar. Read details

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar was recently trolled for his association with a paan masala brand. After facing many backlash from his fans, the actor announced that he will no longer be the ambassador of the tobacco brand he had signed up for. It has now been reported that KGF: Chapter 2 star Yash was also offered a multi-crore endorsement deal for a paan masala brand. However, the South superstar declined it.

Yash is currently enjoying the success of his recently released film, KGF: Chapter 2. The agency that handles endorsement deals for Yash, Exceed Entertainment, confirmed that the actor turned down the multi-crore paan masala ad. Head of the talent management agency, Arjun Banerjee, said in a press statement, “I remember when we became a part of the team with Yash and his long time friend and associate Prashant in March 2020, we created an informal group for communication and it was named ‘storm is coming’. That is the belief he has instilled in us. At a time when no one knew when will the filming of KGF 2 will complete, let alone release and be a monstrous hit.”

He addes, “At this point, we as a team are looking at long-term partnerships only, whether it’s in the form of strategic investments, endorsements or equity deals. Recently we declined a double-digit multi crore offer from a pan masala brand and are going to be extremely mindful on whom we associate with. Given his pan-India appeal, we want to use this opportunity to give right kind of messaging to his fans and followers and invest our time and sweat with brands which have a conscience, are like-minded and want to play the long game, just like the man himself. Pan Masalas and such products have a hugely detrimental effect on people’s health and their impact can be life threatening. This is a truly heroic conscience call by Yash, who has declined a deal that was very personally lucrative in the interest of his fans and followers.”

Yash’s decision comes a week after Akshay Kumar withdrew his association with a paan masala brand. It is a brand that also sells tobacco products. Akshay later apologised to his fans with a note on Instagram. He also stepped back as the ambassador of the brand. His note read, “I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back (sic).”

The Bollywood actor also announced that he has decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. He added, “I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes (sic).”

After kick-starting his career in TV, Yash made his film debut with Jambada Hurudi in 2007. Some of his famous films include Moggina Manasu, Rocky, Thamassu, Rajadhani, Lucky, Jaanu, Drama, Googly and Gajasekari, among others. It was Prashanth Neel’s KGF Chapter 1 and KGF: Chapter 2 that catapulted him to fame all over India.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar was last seen in Bachchhan Paandey. His upcoming projects include Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Prithviraj and Selfiee.
