Indian composer AR Rahman’s daughter Khatija Rahman is now married. The singer made the announcement online by sharing a family photo from the nikah ceremony.
On May 5, the music maestro wrote, “May the Almighty bless the couple .. thanking you in advance for your good wishes and love.”
In the photo newlyweds Khatija and Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed are seen along with the singer himself, his wife Saira Banu, his other two children Raheema and Ameen. The ‘Kun Faya Kun’ singer even included his late mother’s portrait to their family picture.
Khatija also posted a photo on Instagram with her husband and wrote, “The most awaited day in my life. Married to my man Riyasdeen Riyan.”
Many celebrities congratulated the newlyweds under the 55-year-old composer’s post on the photo-sharing app. Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal wrote, “Hearty congratulations Khatija Rahman Riyasdeen Riyan. God bless the beautiful couple.” Harshdeep Kaur, Neeti Mohan, Bhargavi Pillai and Tajik boxer and singer Abdu Rozik also wished the couple.
Khatija got engaged to Mohamed in December last year. The ceremony was a private affair with family and close friends in attendance. She has sung a few Tamil songs including ‘Pudhiya Manidha’ from Enthiran and ‘Rock a Bye Baby’ from Mimi.
In 2019, the singer and his daughter faced backlash for her face veil. In response the ‘Jai Ho’ singer had defended his daughter and supported her. Khatija had taken to social media and wrote that wearing the veil was a personal choice.
