Emilia Clarke’s Rumored MCU Hero Proves She’s Unstoppable in Epic Fan Art

Emilia Clarke’s rumored MCU character, Abigail Brand, plays a key role in Marvel’s cosmic affairs. She looks cooler than ever in new fan art.

Artist Sebastián Píriz just posted an incredible new piece of fan art featuring Abigail Brand, the character Emilia Clarke is rumored to be playing in the MCU . For those unfamiliar with Agent Brand’s comic book appearances, she is the commanding officer of S.W.O.R.D. (a cosmic division of S.H.I.E.L.D.), rumored to appear in the MCU’s Secret InvasionThe series will undoubtedly reference the comic book event with the same name.

S.W.O.R.D. made its MCU debut in WandaVisionclaiming Maria Rambeau founded the organization with the United States government, separately from S.H.I.E.L.D. This is not the case in the comics, where S.W.O.R.D. stands for Sentient World Observation and Response Department. It was first introduced in Joss Whedon and John Cassady’s Astonishing X-Men as the space-focused counterpart to S.H.I.E.L.D. It has recently been re-organized as the space division of the mutants of Krakoa. In the MCU, S.W.O.R.D.’s  independent status helps distinguish the organization from S.H.I.E.L.D., which was crippled after being infiltrated by HYDRA in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Removing Abigail Brand and S.W.O.R.D. from the HYDRA conspiracy would allow writers to help Emilia Clarke’s role stand alone.

In Sebastián Píriz’s latest work of art, fans can see Emilia Clarke’s alleged character diving head-first into what seems to be a cosmic battle. In Marvel Comics, Agent Brand is a mutant with a human mother and an alien father. She was raised on the planet Axus, but now works to protect Earth (especially mutant interests) from extraterrestrial threats. She is essentially the “cosmic Nick Fury.” She regularly faces Kree and Skrull threats, exemplified in Marvel’s Secret Invasion by Brian Michael Bendis and Leinil Francis Yu. Píriz’s art features Agent Brand jumping into space. While she shouldn’t survive the vacuum, her resourcefulness and determination allow her to make it out of the deadliest situations.

In Secret Invasion #4, the Skrulls vent Agent Brand into space, but she manages to survive and intercept the Skrulls’ warship. Thanks to her resilience, she tracks down Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four and together they escape to the Savage Land. Saving Reed essentially saves the Marvel Universe countless times in the future. Not only does Reed help rescue the world during the Skrull invasion, but he also helps in the reformation of Marvel’s multiverse during the 2015 Secret Wars event. Reed Richards is one of the most important figures on Earth-616, and saving him proved Abigail Brand is as well.

Abigail Brand has numerous highlights in Marvel’s most massive crossover events that could make it to the movies. Whether she’s playing a role in the Skrull invasion, combating Kree heretics, or uniting the cosmic heroes of Earth-616, Agent Brand is an influential figure in Marvel’s most dangerous and consequential space incidents. It will be exciting if Emilia Clarke ends up playing Abigail Brand and she encounters Marvel’s cosmic characters in the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, or even the Fantastic Four in the MCU‘s near future.
