Counterfeit Rc Books Scam Busted, 3 Held | Rajkot News

Rajkot: The detection of crime branch (DCB) busted a racket of selling rickshaws purchased in auction at a high price by using duplicate RC books and arrested three people on Tuesday.
Those arrested were Amin Akbaani, Arif Dodhiya and Pradip Zala.
Police said Akbani deals in scrap and has a makeshift godown on Morbi Road while Dodhiya is his friend.
Akbani and Dodhiya started buying rickshaws auctioned by finance companies after their seizure over non-payment of loans and other reasons. They contacted Zala who arranged for making bogus RC books of the purchased vehicles.
Police said the RC books were made by a man named Jayanti Prajapati who lives in Mehsana. Zala used to pay Rs 3,000 per RC book to Prajapati and sold them for Rs 4,000 per book to Akbani.
“Using the bogus RC books, the accused had sold 125 rickshaws at much higher price than purchased in the auction. Most rickshaws were in a very poor condition and many were worth scrapping,” said DCB officials.
During the auction, the banks mention proof of model, loan details etc.
Police recovered nine duplicate RC books and 22 original ones from the accused.
