Party season, from graduations to showers to weddings and plain ol’ backyard parties, is not far off.
And a metro Detroit chef and caterer, Kelli Lewton, has just the ticket to help with your party planning needs in a new book.

Lewton, a chef who founded Two Unique Caterers and Event Planners in Royal Oak decades ago, is out with “Make Your Own Party: Twenty Blueprints to MYO Party” (Scribe Publishing Company, $35.)
The book covers what you need to host your own party. Lewton shares themed party ideas, menus, and food options gleaned from her more than 30 years in the catering and event planning business.
You can meet the author and get a signed copy of the book ahead of its May 10 official launch. A book launch party will take place 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the historic Whiskey Factory, 1000 Maple, Detroit. The event is also a fundraising benefit for the Detroit Food Academy.
Tickets are $60 and include a signed copy of the book (a $35 value), strolling food and beverage pairings based on party themes in the book, including “Game Night,” “South & West” and “Everything Charcuterie.” There’s a cash bar, along with craft cocktails offerings.
Lewton founded Two Unique Caterers in 1991. She is a certified executive chef and graduate of Schoolcraft Culinary Arts College. Lewton teaches culinary arts throughout metro Detroit and also works with youths at the Detroit Food Academy.
