Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Acharya, directed by Koratala Siva, had a dull Sunday (May 1) at the box office. The film’s box office performance has been poor since the second day. While it opened to Rs 53 crore on April 29, Acharya saw a gradual drop in collection during the weekend. According to trade reports, Acharya’s business is likely to be closed within this week.

CHIRANJEEVI’S ACHARYA DIPS FURTHER AT THE BOX OFFICE

Megastar Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s Acharya hit the theatres on April 29. However, the film received a lukewarm response at the box office. Due to negative reviews, the film saw a huge drop in collections on its second day.

Trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai took to Twitter to talk about the poor box office performance of Acharya. His tweet read, “#Acharya turned out to be a turkey all over including the Telugu states (sic).”

Going by trade expert Ramesh Bala’s tweet, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal is performing better than Acharya in the USA. He wrote, “#KRK leads #Acharya on Sunday in USA May 1st 12 Noon EST: #KRK – $15K #Acharya – $13K (sic).”

ABOUT ACHARYA

Acharya is an action drama directed by Koratala Siva. While Chiranjeevi essays the lead role, his son Ram Charan was seen in an extended cameo in the film. Pooja Hegde, Jisshu Sengupta, Sonu Sood and Tanikella Bharani were seen in supporting roles. Kajal Aggarwal was earlier roped in to be part of the film. However, director Koratala Siva decided to chop her portions. The film had music scored by Mani Sharma.
