Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s Acharya was much awaited by fans. The film opened with much fanfare on April 29. The father-son duo’s craze helped the film open big in the South. Directed by Koratala Siva, Acharya also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Pooja Hegde and Sonu Sood. After a rather weak start at the box office, the film failed to pick up the momentum on its second day.

Acharya has received mixed responses from critics. It earned Rs 7.99 crore on Day 1, April 29 in Nizam. Worldwide, it earned Rs 53 crore. However, Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s film failed to pick up pace on its second day. It recorded a huge drop. Seeing the mixed response, the film may see a significant drop in the weekdays. Meanwhile, Acharya released in over 2,000 theatres worldwide. Bookings for the film began four days ago.

Box Office Karnataka reported, “#Acharya Karnataka BO Day 2 stats. Gross: 0.82C Nett: 0.69C Total gross: 3.13C Total nett: 2.64C. Except few multiplexes shows in Bengaluru, the movie has failed to grab audience into theatres. Many shows were cancelled all over KA. Heading towards collusive disaster (sic).”

ABOUT ACHARYA

Written and directed by Koratala Siva, Acharya is a socio-political action drama. The film is jointly produced by Matinee Entertainment and Konidela Production Company. The production and the release of Acharya were delayed multiple times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, the Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan starrer hit the theatres on April 29. The soundtrack of Acharya is created by Mani Sharma and the lyrics are by Ramajogayya Sastry, Ananta Sriram and Bhaskarabhatla. Bankrolled by Konidela Production Company and Matinee Entertainment, the film is made on a budget of Rs 140 crore.
