1st Blue Dragon Series Awards For Original Streaming Service Content To Open Next Month

The first-ever Blue Dragon Series Awards is coming next month!

The Blue Dragon Series Awards is hosted by Sports Chosun and is the first-ever Korean awards ceremony for streaming platforms. The event will be held on July 19 at 7 p.m. KST at Paradise City in Incheon.

In the midst of the evolving video and entertainment industry, there has been an increased interest in original series content. This event has been planned to solidify this global growth and expand the realm of award ceremonies that currently revolve around dramas and variety shows from specific broadcasting stations.

The Blue Dragon Series Awards will instead focus on dramas and variety shows produced and invested in by streaming services offered in Korea, including Netflix, Disney+, seezn, Apple TV+, WATCHA, wavve, Kakao TV, Coupang Play, and TVING.

The ceremony will present 13 different award categories: Best Drama, Best Actor/Actress in a Drama, Best Supporting Actor/Actress in a Drama, Best Rookie Actor/Actress, Best Variety Show, Best Male/Female Entertainer, Best Rookie Male/Female Entertainer, and Popular Star Award.

Sports Chosun currently also presents the annual Blue Dragon Film Awards to award excellence in cinematic achievements and most recently hosted the 42nd event in November.
